About Robert

From a young age and for as long as he can remember Robert has had a pencil or paintbrush in his hand; scribbling on every available scrap of paper until it finally dawned at age 9 that he wanted to be and Illustrator.

Robert studied Illustration at Bristol (UWE) and graduated with a first class degree in 1995. He was shortlisted twice for The Macmillan Prize Award and won a ‘Best Image for fiction” in his final year.

Robert has been a published illustrator for well over 25years. He has worked on two animated films, done countless greetings cards, calendars, diaries and illustrated over 50 children’s books since the early 90’s.

All of this has made him quite diverse and able to adapt to different projects. If he has a specialism, he would say it was character work, having been trained in books and licensing art by Disney, Warner Bros and Hallmark to name a few.

Robert lives by the coast in North Devon with his wife Samantha (she too is a long standing & brilliant illustrator) and they constantly offer help and opinions to each other.
