About Michael

Michael Herring was born on the outskirts of Watford in England when the river Colne, woods and fields were still unspoiled by urban development. This environment, together with time spent on his Grandparents farm, gave him an enduring love of the English countryside.

A self-taught artist, he steadily built up a following for his work enabling him to concentrate on his art full time.

Michael’s paintings recapture the traditional values of rural England where the rhythm of the seasons come and go as they have always done. They are nostalgic depictions of a bygone age that have a timeless appeal.
