About Helen

Helen is an illustrator from Cambridge, England. She holds a degree in Illustration from the Cambridge School of Art and an MA in Illustration from Falmouth University and has had six children’s books published (under the name, Helen Lanzrein).

Helen’s work is focussed on licensing, greetings cards, and children’s books, and shows a love of folklore, the natural world, and ancient and classical history. Her illustrations always have a strong feeling of narrative, atmosphere, and a sprinkle of magic!

Rich colour and quirky characterisation are key in her detailed illustration style. She strives to create worlds where the viewer is enticed inside, then enchanted.

Helen combines hand drawn and painted elements with digital methods such as Procreate and Photoshop. She is happiest in her garden studio surrounded by her artist materials, a good sketchbook and her dogs - Albie the Border Collie and Spooky Sue the inherited Cavapoo. The local wildlife occasionally moves inside when it’s cold to keep her company.
