About Gordon
Gordon is self-taught and came late to a career as a full-time artist. He first had careers in the R.A.F., industry, mining, commerce, and finally in plastics design where he was a successful industrial stylist. Throughout these years, Gordon painted and exhibited in his spare time. By the mid-1970s the demand for his work was such that he decided to fulfil his lifelong dream of being a full-time artist. His paintings are now exhibited in many leading galleries throughout the U.K. and are in many private collections in Europe, America and Japan.
Gordon is also a prolific greeting card artist. When he started creating card designs he was already well known as a traditional landscape painter who nostalgically captures the beauty of British landscapes and towns, and many of these scenes have now been reproduced as greeting cards and jigsaws. His artwork continue to reflect a bygone age as well as a more modern way of life and many of his traditional ‘Everyday’, Christmas and Religious scenes have sold world-wide.
Gordon lives in a Devon village with his wife Christine, two Golden retrievers, Finn & Cal and Mishka the cat. They bought a house with a dormer bedroom, a large room with lots of light overlooking fields and woods behind the cottage and this has been Gordon’s studio for 32 years.
