About Emma

Emma Allen is a freelance Illustrator based in Kent.

Emma enjoys illustrating a variety of subjects, but perhaps most of all animals, quirky characters and the natural world, from tiny toadstools to towering trees. Emma also enjoys illustrating intricate patterns and borders, and often finds inspiration for these in the great outdoors. Emma illustrates digitally, with a background in traditional watercolour techniques, and finds great enjoyment in the little details that bring an illustration to life.

After a career in magazine design and production, Emma changed direction to study Children’s Book Illustration at The London Art College and was awarded ‘Student of the Year’ during her time there.

Emma has since gone on to illustrate many children’s books, and has had her illustrations published with Usborne Books, Hachette, Oxford University Press, Imagine That Publishing, Legend Press, Stafford House Publishing, Pearson and Clear Fork Publishing.
