Angela is a Freelance Illustrator, writer, Fine Artist and Textile Designer living and working in her studio in Nottingham in the UK (her kitchen and bedroom!) She has a B.A Hons in Fashion and Textiles, specialising in Surface Pattern Design and also an M.A in Children’s Writing.
Angela illustrates for cards, wrapping paper, fabric, textiles, editorial and children’s books. Working in many different mediums, including digital, mono-print, inks, gouache, water colours and acrylic. Angela can often be found in her kitchen making quite a mess as she uses painted textures which she adapts digitally in Photoshop to create a rich and atmospheric feeling of depth, texture, and fantasy.
Angela is heavily influenced by growing up in the countryside and loves drawing hedgerows, animals, birds, and flowers, but with an eclectic twist. She loves drawing the comedy and movement of people and is totally in love with children’s illustration.
Illustration projects include work for Mighty Kind Children’s Magazine, Womankind and Uppercase magazine. She has illustrated packaging products sold in TK Max and has also featured in ‘Best of British’ Magazine. She has produced photorealistic editorial images for ‘Psychology lab’ on-line magazine.
Accolades include winning the Doodleaddicts design competition with her scenic illustration ‘Greens are good for you’ which was used for calendar publication. She has also won the ‘Print me Pretty’ Textile Design Competition with her children’s character designs.
Angela’s textile designs were chosen for Uppercase Magazine’s Surface Pattern Design Guide issue 3. She has illustrated children’s books and is currently writing and illustrating her own book.
